Two Republicans, both claiming they can best the heavily funded Democrat candidate for Governor, Maura Healey, will go head-to-head on the popular Howie Carr radio show, Wednesday evening.

The one-hour show will be broadcast on Boston-based WRKO 680 AM and simulcast on WCRN 830 AM in Worcester, and WBSM 1420 AM in New Bedford. It can also be heard live online.

Geoff Diehl, a former State Rep from Whitman, ran unsuccessfully against Elizabeth Warren for US Senate and stated his intention to run for Governor first. Meanwhile, Wrentham businessman, Chris Doughty, only decided to run late in 2021, convinced that his problem-solving skills and platform will give him a better chance of winning than Diehl.

Primary voters will choose between the two in the September primary.

As for the debates, they were a long time in coming. Diehl, who has had the edge in polls and at the party convention, did not rush to debate – while Doughty has been proposing multiple formats, including a televised debate.

For now, the Howie Carr show is it.
