Former Franklin resident, Roger C. Takessian, 59, died peacefully on September 19, 2022 after a long struggle with cancer. He was born December 29, 1962. He leaves his brother, John and his wife Rita of Blackstone, MA, his sister Eileen and her husband Dana Green of Bucksport, Maine and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Claire Takessian of Franklin, MA and his brother Peter H. Takessian of Plymouth, MA.

Roger spent his life on Cape Cod and was living with friends prior to his illness. A big thank you goes out to them for their kindness and also to his “family” at Shaws where worked in Maintenance in South Yarmouth. Many referred to him as their “grumpy old man” which was said in a loving manner. He often spoke of his precious cat, Angus, whom he also loved. Roger also worked for many years at the former Mitchell’s Restaurant in Hyannis.

Much gratitude goes to the wonderful employees of Shattuck Hospital and Boston Medical for the continual care that was given to Roger. The very kind people at Shattuck referred to him as a “gentleman.” He acquired many friends during his long hospital stay.

Roger had a kind heart, but struggled in this world. May he finally be at peace.

A small memorial will be held at The Union Street Cemetery at 11 am on Friday, September 23rd. Please, no flowers.

The Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. is honored to assist the Takessian family.
