Writing to supporters last week, State Rep. Jeff Roy noted, “We have a race,” referring to the Republican write-in, Charles Bailey III,  who garnered the votes needed in the Sept. 6 primary to have a slot on the November ballot opposite Roy.

“As you know, I take every race seriously, and I need your support in order to prepare for this general election contest,” Roy wrote.

With that note of urgency added for a previously scheduled fundraiser, Roy gather dozens of supporters on Monday evening. Originally slated to be held (mostly) out of doors at La Cantina, concerns about possible severe storms coming through the area prompted a last-minute move to the Black Box.

Summarizing the results, Roy wrote, “I was thrilled to kick off the 2022 campaign with friends and family at the Black Box. It was so great to see everyone energized for the election in November and to talk about what we have done together as a Commonwealth over the last 10 years.”

“We had over 100 people in attendance with speeches from Jim Derick, Scott Nathan, Robert Dellorco, Sen. Becca Rausch, and Rep. Danielle Gregoire,” he said. According to Roy, the event raised over $16,000.
