Second Neighborhood Meeting Hosted by Dean

Tuesday evening, for the second time, the leadership of Dean College, Chancellor Ed Augustus and members of the Dean College staff, hosted a meeting for neighbors and members of the community to discuss topics of mutual interesting -- including a long-term bugaboo, parking conflicts between residents and students.

According to Gregory Chalk, Vice President Marketing and Business Development at Dean,  in addition to residents, members of the Town Council and State Rep. Jeff Roy also attended.

Chalk said Augustus discussed parking issues and discussed all the College is doing to continually educate students on being good citizens and to hopefully alleviate any parking challenges for local neighbors.  For his part, Town Council Chair Tom Mercer also discussed the new parking laws going into effect in early 2023 as well.

Literally putting "muscle" behind Dean's efforts at strengthening community relations,
Chancellor Augustus also announced that Dean College has arranged for some of the school's students to assist sick and elderly neighbors in need of assistance with snow removal this winter while they are on campus.

Augustus also provided an update on other things of interest to the community, including  Dean’s annual tree lighting, which will occur in front of Dean Hall on December 1 at around 4:00 PM.

For the holidays, Dean will be providing more lights than ever before and 'looks forward to adding to the festive atmosphere in downtown Franklin.' In addition, Dean will have individual displays representing all the December holidays.

Dean will be having an annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday 11/17 and invited the neighbors to come as our dinner guests for the evening.

Dean students will be performing All Shook Up from Wednesday to Sunday this week along with a full slate of athletic competitions this weekend and all winter long. We are encouraging all Franklin residents to attend one of the many athletic or performance opportunities occurring this school year, Augustus added.
