Quilts of Valor were awarded to several veterans at Magnolia Heights on Wednesday, November 16.

The quilts were presented by Theresa Perreault, the Massachusetts State Coordinator for the Quilts of Valor Foundation. She said more than 300,000 quilts have been made by volunteers in thousands of chapters. She noted that each quilt is unique. “You might want to put them on a wall or you might want to put him in a box or put them away,” she said. However, she advised, the donors want the recipients to use them.

Veteran’s Services Officer Shannon Nisbett spoke at the ceremony as did State Rep. Jeff Roy, and an invocation was delivered by Legion Post 75 Chaplain Bob Markunis.

Members of the local and state American Legion were in attendance along with about 60 residents of Magnolia Heights.
