Metacomet Asks if You are 911 Ready?

In the most recent newsletter from Metacomet Emergency Communication Center, the agency that provides emergency dispatch services to Franklin and several other communities, there is a pitch for members of the public to set up an Emergency Health Profile. A what?

Metacomet goes on to explain that the 911 system relies on your ability to clearly articulate critical information such as pre-existing health information in an emergency. Together with public safety and organizations certified as RapidSOS Ready, RapidSOS has created the world’s first emergency response data platform that securely links life-saving data from connected devices or profiles to 911 and first responders in an emergency.

Now individuals can be RapidSOS Ready by creating an Emergency Health Profile, providing first responders with the critical information they need to care for you in a medical emergency. During these uncertain times, taking this important step can help provide the peace of mind of knowing that in an emergency you and your loved ones have the most effective response possible.

It is a free service provided at no cost by the Emergency Health Profile Association. The organization claims they have the ability to keep all that private information secure and note that it can only be accessed by emergency personnel in the event that an emergency call is initiated from your own device.

You can find more information at  www.emergencyprofile.
