Kenneth E. Ames, 74, of Franklin, formerly of Needham passed away January 19, 2023 from complications of COVID-19, surrounded by his family.

A Disabled Vietnam Army Veteran and 35-year member of the Town of Needham Water Department which he retired in 2005. Ken was born in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, and grew up in Deerfield and Northwood, New Hampshire. A devoted veteran, son, father and grandfather. Ken also had a lifelong enjoyment for fishing and hunting, which was nurtured by growing up surrounded by nearby lakes and woods in his native New Hampshire.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sharon Digney Ames and his two children Michele Ryan and husband Michael, and Kristen Gillen and husband Marc, both of Franklin, five grandchildren, Colin, Madison, and Marissa Gillen and Keagan and Declan Ryan. He is further survived by his brother Dana Ames and wife Peggy, of Fort Myers FL, and sister Patricia McIntyre and husband Jeff of Leigh Acres, FL, mother-in-law Mrs William Digney, of Needham, brothers-in-law Carl Digney, of Milford, and Gerard Digney of North Hollywood, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Thursday, January 26th 11am. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Interment with Military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s name made to the DAV, State House Rm 546, Boston MA 02133
