As plans move toward finalization for the Franklin Observer Candidates Night, a social evening of conversation among candidates and the public on Tuesday, October 17, Jeff Livingstone has graciously agreed to share moderator duties with Observer editor, Alan Earls.
Livingstone, who serves on the Conservation Commission, the Community Preservation Committee, and is a Board Member of the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions (MACC), is a professional in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space. He will be cohosting the evening with Earls.
"Jeff is smart and well informed but above all he is open-minded and interested in how others view things.," said Earls. "I always appreciate our conversations and the curiosity and even-tempered approach Jeff always takes," said Earls."I am sure Jeff will help keep our conversations forthright, upbeat, constructive, and fun," he added.
"I am excited for this opportunity," said Livingstone. "People in Franklin aren't always as familiar with the issues or with our town government as perhaps they would like to be and I believe this will be a lively and engaging opportunity to help the citizenry achieve both," said Livingstone.
The event, which will run from 6 pm to 10 pm at the Franklin Elks, 1077 Pond Street, will feature complimentary light foods with drinks available for purchase at the bar. It will open with an informal meet-and-greet for candidates and attendees. That will be followed by a more formal program for competitive races, with breaks for socializing.
“We are excited to organize this event at the welcoming facility of the Elks,” said Earls. “In the past, these events have been anything but social and we hope to change that and give voters a chance to really get to know the candidates and the issues and enjoy a genuinely fun night out with other residents,” he continued.
The event is FREE but to defray room costs, attendees are encouraged, to make a suggested donation of $5 per person.
Space is limited, so please RSVP with number of attendees to be sure of getting a seat. Send to alan.r.earls@gmail.com and write 10-17 RSVP in the subject line.
