According to authorities, a 55-year old Norwood man has been identified as the victim of impact with a train in Norwood early Wednesday morning. One train was cancelled and others were delayed about 30 minutes before service resumed at about 7:15 am.
Richard Sullivan, a spokesperson with the MBTA Police, provided the following statement:
At approximately 4:30AM on 10/25/2023 an adult male was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train on track 2 of the Franklin branch in Norwood, MA. A preliminary investigation suggests the male intentionally placed himself within the right of way of an approaching outbound train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.
There were no passengers on board and the scene is now clear. Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.
