Peter L. Dumas of Franklin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 22, 2024 following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Kimberlee A. (Higgins) Dumas, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.
Born March 3, 1956 in Natick, son of the late Francis J and Barbara F (Ainsworth) Dumas, he was raised in Natick before settling in Franklin in 1985.
A graduate of Natick High School in 1974 and Mass Bay Community College in 1976, he went on to work for Roche Bros Supermarkets for 44 years, making his way from a bakery clerk to Bakery Director in that time.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his daughters, Megan Kantzer and her husband Jake of Waltham, Michelle Kam and her husband Josh of Millis, and Kristen Dumas of Franklin. He is also survived by brothers Michael Dumas and his wife Tami of Mendon, Paul Dumas and his wife Bernadette of New Port Richey, Florida, and sisters Nancy Sherman and her husband Dave of Trinity, Florida, and Jean-Marie Dumas of Sudbury, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Peter enjoyed golf (never letting his kids win at mini-golf), cribbage, and vacationing to the Cape where he always had good weather. A devout Patriots fan, he spent many a Sunday night yelling at the TV. He also enjoyed maintaining his lawn, fighting an eternal war against dandelions. A leukemia survivor, he cherished time with his girls and his grandchildren, Charlotte and Emma Kam, and Miles and Jasper Kantzer.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, April 26th from 4-7pm in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA.
A private family burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org) and the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org).
