Medway High School Principal John Murray is pleased to announce that nine students have been inducted into the Medway High School Tri-M Music Honor Society.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, Sept. 9, at Medway High School.

The new inductees are Faye Bagalawis, Aidan Christie, Riley Gallerani and Maeve McDermott for voice, Davis Campbell for percussion, Kai Connolly for clarinet, Winter Lafferty for trombone, Aurelia Mello for flute and Will Nassiff for alto saxophone.

During the ceremony, Tri-M Co-Advisors Ashley Nelson-Oneschuk and Amanda Webster spoke about the meaning and values of Tri-M. The inductees then took the Tri-M pledge and received a Tri-M membership certificate. The event included a recital in which the new inductees performed on their primary instruments. The event concluded with a message from Assistant Superintendent Paul Peri, who congratulated the new members on their achievements.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society focuses on creating future leaders in music education and advocacy. It is part of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the only music honor society for high school students in the country. Tri-M recognizes students who have dedicated much of their time to academics and music, and the organization gives students leadership opportunities and service projects centered around the love and promotion of music in their community.

To be accepted into Tri-M, students must be entering their third consecutive year of a performance ensemble, including band or chorus, maintain an A grade average in all music classes and a B grade average in all non-music classes and demonstrate leadership in the department and a willingness to serve the community.

“I want to congratulate these students on their induction into the Tri-M Music Society,” Principal Murray said. “They deserve to be recognized for their hard work and leadership within the music program and the community as a whole. I am confident that they will thrive in the Tri-M Music Society.”
