The Medway Select Board met Tuesday night and a top item on the agenda was a hearing on a request by the Town Clerk, Stefany Ohannesian. Although it was a public hearing, there were no comments from the public.
Ohannesian argued that the additional costs are considerable since the town would be required to contact all who signed up for mail-in voting during the 2024 national election cycle yet, historically, participation in the town-only election is low.
Those arguments quickly convinced the Select Board members present, Chair Frank Rossi, Clerk Dennis Crowley, and member Maryjane White who voted unanimously to eliminate mail in voting for this cycle. Ohannesian noted that absentee voting will remain an option for thos who want ot need it.
The Board also approved police details for the election before moving on to other matters.
