Yes, it's true, the location formerly Sierra's and before that Spruce Pond Creamery, is open again at 370 King Street, as King's Brick Oven PIzza and Pub -- and they are currently selling ice cream inside from what used to be Sierra's Bar.
For now, the selection is a bit limited but a staffer said that broader offerings are planned and perhaps a traditional outdoor window, as Spruce Pond once had.
Spruce Pond did business at the location for a bout 20 years. Sierra's, which was the interim tenant, had prospered near the Starbucks (sandwiched between Old West Central and modern West Central near the I-495 on ramp), but had endless trouble in making the move to King Street in the midst of Covid. There was that as well as a winter pipe burst that set back their opening date by months. Then came financial and management challenges...So, their tenancy seems to have lasted about four years.
With luck, King's Brick Oven will escape those trials and become a local institution in a community that has had a chronic ice cream shortage for many years.
