Georgia Sarianides, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025. She was married to the late Panagotis Sarianides for 47 years. Georgia was a native of Amaliada, Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1974. Georgia was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian. She resided in Franklin, MA.
She leaves behind her children: John and his wife Alisyn, George and his wife Katherine, her daughter Despina and her youngest son, Panagotis Sarianides Jr. Georgia was a grandmother to three grandchildren, Panagiotis, Evangelia, and Marie Georgia. She is survived by her sister Sophia, Demitra, Anna and Gregoria and the late Taki and Despina.
Georgia led a remarkable life. Georgia and her late husband owned several successful restaurants. In 1997, her passion for family and food led her to write her first cookbook, The Best of Greek Cuisine, Cooking with Georgia. In 2001, Georgia released a new edition of the book. In 2004, she wrote her third cookbook, Nosthimia, the Greek American Family Cookbook. The book reflected Georgia’s trailblazing spirit when it comes to Greek Cuisine and her love for bringing people together. As she said in the book, "My recipes are Greek with an American twist, just like me!" In addition to her cookbook, Georgia also had one of the longest running cooking shows in the country. Cooking with Georgia and Cooking with Georgia and Dez aired from 1996 to 2018 on WCCA-TV. The show was nationally recognized. In 2016 Georgia, her daughter Despina and son Peter launched Theia Brands, a food manufacturing company. Georgia pioneered the Greek Food trend that has swept the nation in recent years. When she wasn’t cooking delicious meals for her family and friends or writing new recipes. She was working on her garden, travelling and playing with her beloved cat, Taki.
There will be a visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday August 9th, 2025 from 9-11 am. Funeral Mass at the Saint Nectarios Church at 11:00 am. She will be buried at The Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker St. West Roxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases at nfid.org. Donations can also be made to WCCA-TV at wcca-tv.com or St. Nectarios Church, 39 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale, MA.
