A reader recently shared frustration at trying to report a possible drug deal in the downtown area. The individual went to the Franklin Police website and scrolled down, hoping to find a 'spot crime' or report a crime button and, at the bottom, spotted Report a Concern, and used the form there to report the potential criminal behavior. A day or two later, they received an email saying they should call a detective to share the information. Deputy Chief West explains that the police department web site does not have a "report" button and that the "Report a Concern" button is simply part of the town's home page. Information coming in through that source just goes to a general inbox at town hall. So, West recommends observant and concerned citizens should make a phone call instead to 508-528-1212. They can still request anonymity if they prefer.
Grella, who has been involved in town affairs for many years and, most recently, has been a vocal critic of the town's addiction to growth, announced via Facebook: My goal is very simple. I want to get the Town Council back to representing the people of Franklin.

Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the MBTA’s operations and maintenance partner for the Commuter Rail, has implemented temporary schedule adjustments on the Franklin/Foxboro Line and for outbound Providence/Stoughton Line trains. The schedule adjustments are necessary to allow for safe Commuter Rail operations while crews repair significant damage to a critical interlocking, caused by a downed Amtrak catenary wire on Friday, August 1. The downed catenary wire ignited a key signal bungalow at Read Interlocking where the Franklin/Foxboro Line splits off from the mainline near Hyde Park Station. Amtrak maintenance crews are working closely with the MBTA and Keolis to assess the damage and make necessary repairs. The adjusted schedule begins on Monday, August 4 and will be posted online at mbta.com/cr later today. Complete repair of the interlocking may take several weeks, and schedule adjustments may be updated during that time as work progresses.
