MEDWAY: Michael "Mike" Mona Jr.

Michael “Mike” Mona Jr., 79, of Medway and formerly of Marlborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 in Milford Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born in Pawtucket, RI, the son of the late Michael Mona Sr. and Bella (Caouette) Mona. He graduated from Tolman High School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1968. He was employed by Raytheon for 38 years, most recently as a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer.

Mike loved sports and was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. He enjoyed all types of music, especially music from the 50s and 60s, and attended many concerts over the years. Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make jokes, often at his own expense. He maintained relationships with friends from his Raytheon days long after retirement, enjoying the camaraderie and conversation. Mike was known for his kindness and his knack for making people feel special. He also had a giant sweet tooth and loved to linger over the pastry section in the supermarket. After his retirement in 2006, Mike and his wife Donna traveled extensively, visiting dozens of countries as well as exploring most of the United States.

Mike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna M. (Hopkins) Mona, his daughter Jennifer Garofalo and her husband Dave, all of Medway, 2 grandchildren, Maia and Maeve McKean, 2 step grandchildren, Sarah and Noah Garofalo, a sister, Barbara Duplisea of FL, a sister-in-law, Patricia Hopkins of Shrewsbury as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother, Norman Mona.
