Lawrence E. Morrissey, 93, formerly of Belanger Ave., Waterford NY passed away peacefully Saturday August 23, 2025 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born and educated in Franklin, MA he was the son of the late Edward and Edna Berry Morrissey.
Larry had been employed for 30 years at the Ford Motor Co. and retired from the Human Resources Department in 1978. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion, Legnard-Curtin Post in Green Island.
He was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh and enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing.
He is predeceased by his wife Mabel Hansbury Morrisey who died in 2018 and is survived by his cousin and friend Raymond Vincent of Waterford and cousin Joan Richardson of St. Stephens, New Brunswick, Canada. He is the brother of the late Margaret Morrissey, Mabel Fair, Ethel Pizzi and Melva Marculier. He is the uncle of Patricia Ann Winstead of Troy, William Pizzi (Ann) and Rosemary Pidgeon both of Franklin, MA and the late Mark Cavanaugh (Jean).
Funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at 10 am at St. Augustine’s Church. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Troy.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 pm.
