Beaver Street Interceptor (BSI) Project Construction Updates
Monday Night (10/27) through Friday Morning (10/31)
RT. 140 (West Central Street) Lane Closure Alert 7PM to 5AM!
Monday night, October 27, the Contractor will continue with the installation of the sewer force main within RT. 140 (West Central Street). The work will be contained within the southbound lane from Burger King to Beaver Street. During this time there will be evening lane closures on RT. 140 from 7PM to 5AM. Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow all posted signs. Note that this work is expected to continue from Monday night through Friday morning for the next 6 to 8 weeks. Meanwhile, Interceptor Pump Station will continue with construction of the exterior building structure and internal building component installation. In addition, the contractor will be performing final site work.
No Charges Yet in Pedestrian Death on Pleasant St. Franklin
As of last week, the Norfolk District Attorney's office said that the investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident on Monday in which Ugo Ciannavei, 89, of Franklin, was hit by a single vehicle in the area of 354 Pleasant St. at about 8 a.m, is still ongoing but expected to be completed soon. When it is complete, a decision about whether or not to file charges will be made.
Bar Advocate Work Stoppage (Strike?) Grinds On.
According to the Boston Herald, more
than 150 criminal cases were dismissed in Boston Municipal Court last week due to a lack of representation for defendants. One of the cases
involved the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl.
3 Inmate Deaths at Norfolk Prison in 30 days
The deaths of three inmates in 30 days at a Massachusetts prison are
under investigation by the state police. Neither the manner nor cause of death has yet been released.
5 Charged in Large Bellingham-Woonsocket Drug Raid
At mid-month, multiple sources have reported that a joint operation involving State Police in Rhode Island and
Massachusetts led to the execution of search warrants on homes in
Woonsocket, Central Falls and Bellingham. Police reportedly found 48-hundred grams of cocaine, 100 grams of
fentanyl, two fully loaded semi-automatic pistols and $79,000 in cash. However, neither the Massachusetts nor Rhode Island State Police, nor the Police in Woonsocket or Bellingham would respond to inquiries about the scale of the operation or whether it extended into Franklin or Medway. {Monday morning, we were contacted by Bellingham Police who reported, "this was a case from a task force comprised of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and federal task force officers. Bellingham Police were only notified of the arrests and had no direct involvement in the case]
