Cinema Paradiso,  in Italian with English subtitles has been widely praised in the US and internationally. It is 2 hours and 54 minutes long so there will be a short intermission and light refreshments served.

Wikipedia says, “Cinema Paradiso has been cited as one of the greatest films of all time, and a world cinema classic.” Its rated 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Told mostly in flashback, the film focuses on a young boy who befriends the movie projectionist in a small Sicilian village. As he grows up the projectionist convinces him to leave the village and pursue his passion of making movies. He leaves, becomes very successful, and doesn’t return until 30 years later for the projectionist’s funeral. Upon his return he learns some secrets that cause mixed emotions.
