Millis/Medway Animal Control Officer Erin Mallette was honored recently with the Dick Stein Award for distinguished service by the Animal Control Officers Association of Massachusetts at their annual banquet.
According to the Medway Police, Officer Mallette is not only a dedicated Animal Control Officer but also an extraordinary wildlife rehabilitator whose compassion and commitment to helping all animals are truly unparalleled. Her passion for educating fellow officers about wildlife care and rehabilitation is both inspiring and contagious.
We were proud to attend the ceremony alongside Susan from Return2Wild to see Officer Mallette recognized for her exceptional work and service.

Richard “Dick” Stein was the town of Canton’s Animal Control Officer for over 30 years, and he was a founding member of the Animal Control Officers Association of Massachusetts in 1980. With the creation of ACOAM he became a driving force in the move to educate and professionalize officers within the Animal Control profession. Dick was there for the inception of the ACOAM certification course and he helped mold the course into one of the most in -depth educational opportunities available to animal control officers anywhere in the United States.

The Richard “Dick” Stein Award is given each year to someone who promotes professionalism of the Animal Control field through continuing education.
