David Thomas Tattrie, age 85, of Blackstone and formerly of Franklin, passed away on 12/10/2025 due to complications from ALS at the Alliance Health at Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham, MA.
He survived by his ever patient and warm-hearted wife Elizabeth (Betty), who was the love of his life. He is also survived by a daughter Jill McKinnon and her partner Russell; sons Kevin Tattrie and wife Christine; and Chris Tattrie and wife Lauren as well as grandchildren; Tyler, Julia, Brooke, Molly, Emily, Aurise and Daniel. Dave was also predeceased by his brother Peter and sister Sandra.
Dave was born in Ashland, MA to Earl and Aurise Tattrie, but after losing both parents in the Cocoanut Grove Fire in 1942, he spent the majority of his youth in the Pawtucket R.I. area. He eventually graduated from Warren E Tolman High School.
He briefly served in the Navy before attending night school to learn electronics. Later, he became a self-taught test engineer during the early days of computing in New England, working as a Test Engineer Manager at numerous technology companies such as Honeywell, Data General, and Textronics. He ended his career in technology as the New England Service Manager at John Fluke Mfg. company. In later life, he pivoted to a career in real estate, eventually starting his own firm, TAT Realty in Franklin, MA at which he labored until his retirement.
Dave had several interests outside of work which included YMCA power lifting in his early years, metal detecting, vegetable gardening, home improvement projects and visiting with his seven grandchildren. He was best known for his interest in running. Dave completed several marathons, hundreds of road races, and a few triathlons over a 25 year plus span. Friends would often spot him two or three towns away on some of his longer runs. Dave was also a long-time, committed friend of Bill W. and was responsible for helping several people over the years attain and maintain their sobriety.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Franklin for many years. He also belonged to the Franklin Bolts Running Club.
A wake will be held on Friday December 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home at 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass to follow at St Mary’s Church at 11:00 a.m. located at One Church Square Franklin, MA.
Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
