Franklin Names New Police Chief

The Franklin Police Department is has  announced that, Wednesday night, the Franklin Town Council voted to ratify the appointment of Deputy Chief James West as the next Chief of Police for the Town of Franklin.

Chief West will assume leadership of the Franklin Police Department in the coming months following the retirement of Chief Lynch, who has served the department and community as chief since 2016.

Chief West brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and dedication to the position.

He began his police career in Winthrop in 1996 and joined the Franklin Police Department as a full-time officer in 2001. He was later promoted to Sergeant (2004), Lieutenant (2017) and then Deputy Chief in 2021.

He holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Nichols College and last year completed a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice and Leadership from FBI National Academy Class 296.
