Long Before He Appeared on T-Shirts, Reddington Defended a FHS Senior

In the recently ended trial of admitted triple child killer, Lindsay Clancy, the robust defense provided by Brockton attorney, Kevin Reddington, and his signature mannerisms became internationally familiar.

But long before, back in 2002, it was a Franklin teen, Amber Nicole Dibibar, who was in peril from a stunningly aggressive prosecution effort by Franklin Police Court Prosecutor Edward Clifford.

Things went wrong for Dibibar, when she left Franklin High School during a snowstorm with her friend Kerri Driscoll  to go to  their jobs at the Next Generation Children's Center on a morning in early December of 2002.  While driving west on Beaver Street, Dibibar lost control of her front-wheel-drive Ford Escort and hit a Jeep Cherokee driven by Brenden Coviello of Uxbridge.
Driscoll was killed and Dibibar was seriously injured. Coviello was not hurt.

Clifford charged Dibibar with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Dibibar eventually obtained the services of Reddington and ultimately was cleared of the most serous charges against her.

According to contemporary reporting, Driscoll's friends did not blame Dibibar for the incident. Several of them led a fundraising effort to create a playground in her honor, which is currently located at the Middle School on Oak Street. Its completion was funded with additional help from the town.
