Thursday evening was the long-awaited debut of the Franklin Wind Phone at the Franklin Sculpture park.

According to artist Amy Adams, what began as her initiative to support mental health and well being through art and community connection, will now  have a permanent home at the Franklin Sculpture Park. She brings art and purpose together with the installation, creating a space that invites conversation and encourages healing.

The Wind Phone features hand painted panels of wildflowers and nature, offering a place for comfort while recognizing that missing someone connects us all.

The project itself carries the spirit of community. Adams and Margaret Munson collaborated in painting the installation’s panels, while local families and community members created painted stones that will become part of the surrounding rock garden. In addition, a list of local counseling and support resources who are available if needed, will be located at the Wind Phone. Adams hopes that this initiative will help create more opportunities for conversation to release the stigmas related grief and loss. The Wind Phone was welcomed alongside other new public artworks during the Franklin Sculpture Park Welcome Ceremony on Panther Way, Thursday at 5 p.m..
