Town Council to Meet, Hear From State Legislators Weds. PM

The Franklin Town Council meets Wednesday night with a busy agenda but mostly relatively routine reports….The agenda includes reports from subcommittees and ad hoc committees, the Town Administrator’s report, a Hunger Action Month proclamation and recognition of the retirement of several long-time town employees. 

Following several resignations, the TA will be asking the Council to approve five-new members of the Cultural Council, two of whom have ties to Dean College.

There are no public hearings or license transactions scheduled.

Presentations include a legislative update from Senator Rebecca Rausch and Representative Jeffrey Roy, updates from Tina Powderly, Executive Director, Franklin Food Pantry and Jennifer Knight-Levine, Executive Director, SAFE Coalition. Jayson Joyce, Chair and Rob Browne, Vice Chair of the Franklin 250th Anniversary Celebration Committee, will deliver an update on activities over the past year.

Legislation for Action includes Acceptance of Gifts for the Veterans Services Department ($2,000) and a Transfer of $25,000 from the Marketing & Branding Capital Account to the 250th Anniversary Celebration Committee.

In addition there should be a routine appropriation of funds in Support of PEG Service and Programming.

The Council is also expected to enter executive session to consider “the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property, because an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the negotiating position of the Public Body and the Chair so-declares.”
