Independent Pagliarulo Seeks Norfolk DA Election Win

With the trial of Matthew Farwell in the death of Sandra Birchmore getting underway in Boston, it is a reminder of the questionable practices in the Norfolk District Attorney's office over recent years.

Joseph Michael Pagliarulo is running as an independent candidate for the job of Norfolk District Attorney  because, he said,  he believes prosecutorial decisions must be based on facts, evidence, and the law—not political pressure. He says Norfolk County deserves a District Attorney who prioritizes public safety, holds repeat and violent offenders accountable, treats victims with compassion, and ensures that every person is treated fairly under the law.

His campaign slogan, “Take Politics Out of Prosecution,” reflects his position that decisions made by the District Attorney’s Office should be guided by the law and the facts of each case rather than political considerations.  Pagliarulo said Franklin is an important part of his  countywide campaign. He says he intends to listen to residents throughout Norfolk County and make public safety a priority in every community.

Raised in Boston's West Roxbury neighborhood, Pagliarulo grew up in a family of six sisters and two brothers where education was strongly valued. Two of his older sisters graduated from Boston College. He graduated from Catholic Memorial, earned his undergraduate degree from Stonehill College, and graduated cum laude from SuffolkUniversity Law School.

Pagliarulo has more than 18 years of experience as an Assistant District Attorney in Boston, where he personally prosecuted more than 5,000 cases. For over a decade, he also managed and supervised a team of attorneys responsible for prosecuting more than 25,000 cases. His responsibilities included supervising the West Roxbury court for more than 10 years and teaching third-year law students from Suffolk University Law School, Harvard Law School, and other local colleges. His professional experience also includes criminal defense, providing him with perspective on the responsibilities and challenges facing both prosecutors and defendants.

He also emphasizes the importance of developing and mentoring young attorneys and building a professional District Attorney’s Office focused on accountability and results.

Pagliarulo is encouraging Franklin residents and voters throughout Norfolk County to learn more about his background, campaign, and positions on public safety and criminal justice.
