Something in Common (and on the Common)

Today, Sunday Sept. 12, from noon to 6 pm, the Franklin Town Common is being transformed for the Franklin Cultural Festival, with food trucks, craft vendors, performances and more. Organizing the event has been a labor of love for the Franklin Cultural Council.

In the runup to the event Cultural Council co-chair Kaye Kelly said “I’m answering around 30 emails/phone calls each day regarding the festival.”

The event is free and includes an Indian Sari Showcase and dozens of artisans participating in a juried craft fair. Musical performers include the Salsa Band “Eguie Castrillo & Mar del Norte Salsa Orchestra“ (and salsa lessons!) and the Pamela Means Jazz Project

Did we mention puppet shows for the kids?

The mission of the Franklin Cultural Council (FCC), according to its web site, is to “encourage participation and enhance opportunities for enrichment in the cultural arts and sciences throughout our community.” The FCC meets monthly with the purpose of supporting events and programs through grants from the Town of Franklin and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
