Monday evening, the Franklin Cultural District Partners Meeting, consisting of members of the Town-appointed Franklin Cultural District Committee and representatives of several partner organizations in the community.

In the absence of Chair Nancy Schoen, the meeting was led by Vice-Chair John LoPresti, according to information provided by Committee Clerk, Pandora Carlucci.

A key item was LoPresti reviewing participation by the FCD Committee at Sunday’s Cultural Festival. He said the Committee had a booth with a Cultural District map, Cultural District materials and a sign-up sheet for those interested in being added to the newsletter email list.

LoPresti also introduced Lily Rivera, the recently-hired Marketing and Communications Specialist for the Town of Franklin. Rivera shared information about her background and the ways in which she will be working with town departments and the schools.

Carlucci, for her part, updated attendees about the Franklin Cultural District (FCD) newsletter, which is emailed and posted to the FCD Facebook page. She encouraged FCD Partners to share the newsletter with their own social media groups.

Attendee Steve Sherlock stressed that the Cultural District calendar is key because it not only promotes awareness of events, it also helps to avoid events competing on the same dates.

Carlucci noted that she was able to share some preliminary information about the Mass Cultural Council grants in the works including: Cultural District grants, Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer Festival grants, and Local Cultural Council grants. She said the Committee is awaiting final policy and timeline guidance.  LoPresti asked the Partners to think about the grant possibilities, the potential for collaboration among and between Partners, and the best time of year for events.

The meeting closed with a date for the next Partners meeting: Thursday, January 20, 2022.
