Swimming in Junk? Come to Beaver Pond Saturday

The Green Team is coming! A special event at the parking lot of Chilson Beach at Beaver Pond on Saturday, September 18, will allow locals to offload excess furniture and have it be donated to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

And if you happen to have an old dehumidifier, National Grid, in cooperation with MassSave, will provide a $30 rebate toward the purchase of a new, energy efficient dehumidifier.

The Green Team, a regional recycling company, works with local waste transport companies and local charities to reuse as much as possible of donations, typically around 80 percent, according to the company web site.

“This event is about providing resources to the community on energy savings and recycling,” said State Representative Jeff Roy. “In my role as Chair of the Committee on Telecommunication, Utilities & Energy, I come across a lot of material on both topics and wanted to share it in the hope that more people will participate in programs that save energy and reduce the effects of climate change,” he said

Roy also noted that he is pleased to be partnering with the Town of Franklin’s DPW, GreenTeam Junk Removal, MassSave, Eversource, Marcie Rappa Homes, Habitat for Humanity, and National Grid.

The event is being held from 9 am to noon.
