Money may not love us, but Safewise.com currently ranks Franklin as the second safest city in the entire United States (down from number one safest a few years ago). The statistics that won us that honor are primarily a violent crime rate of 0.06 per thousand residents and a property crime rate of 1.24 per thousand residents, based on data provided by the FBI.

Incidentally, it was our neighbor to the north, Hopkinton, that beat us into the number one spot.

Other cheering news comes from Dean College, which has shared that it has been ranked 28th in the 2022 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings for the Best Regional Colleges, North category. This is the 11th consecutive year that Dean College has received the Best Colleges honor.

Additionally, Dean placed 5th in the Best Regional Colleges, North category for Best Undergraduate Teaching and 28th on the Top Performers in Social Mobility list.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by U.S. News and our peer institutions once again this year,” said Dr. Paula M. Rooney, Dean College President in a college press release. “It signals the overall strength of Dean’s academic experience and the emphasis we place on student success.”
