Rotary-Dean Car Show Tomorrow

Get ready for the Rotary/Dean Car Show, tomorrow, Sunday, Sept 26, from 10 am to 3pm at the Dean College Campus Center, at 109 West Central Street. According to Gary Convertino, one of the organizers, the event started in 2018 as a partnership between the Franklin Rotary and Dean College. “We were hoping to raise money for the Rotary Scholarship Fund and awareness for Dean College,” he explained.

At the time, Convertino was the VP of HR for Dean College, and also the College representative for Rotary. “I wanted to do something of value for the Rotary Club to raise money for a cause of their choice,” he said. As for Dean College, Convertino said he wanted to offer the Franklin community a chance to experience a fun event at Dean, and also give tours of the College and “enjoy the great Dining Center, which is open to the public who attend the car show at a discounted rate.”

Convertino said the show was cancelled last year due to COVID, making this is the 4th annual car show, rather than the 5th.

“This year, we decided to have the car show as part of Parents Weekend, so we should have many people on campus not just for the car show, but also for a special weekend for family and friends of the students that attend Dean College,” Convertino said.

Each car owner pays $15.00 to enter and scores of vehicles are expected. There are awards for vehicles, a DJ and a 50/50 raffle, he noted.
