And the Winner Is....

Wendy DiRico

Last week Franklin Observer invited readers to come up with a creative (and appropriate) name for the boulder next to the Post Office parking lot that has been damaging cars for several years, getting itself gradually displaced toward Emmons Street in the process.

We are happy to report that readers more than met the challenge. And the winner, from a clever crop of monikers, is:

Rocky Balboulder

That name comes courtesy of Wendy DiRico. She managed to get two stone-related references in one name and neat cultural connections, too!

The Runner Up entries include:

>“Benjamin Boulder” -- Lynda DeCarlo

>“Buster” -- Diane Poisson

>“The Main Rock” -- Lynda DeCarlo

>“Rock of Rages” -- (anonymous)

Wendy may have had an advantage. Not only is she very familiar with the iconic boxing and “come from behind” film, “Rocky*”; it’s also her husband’s name – and the two own a martial arts training company, with locations in Natick and Arlington.

“As soon as I read about the boulder the name just popped into my head,” she said.

Thanks to all for having some fun and sharing your creativity!

[* For those not familiar with the reference, actor Sylvester Stallone plays the role of Rocky Balboa, an aspiring Italian-American prize fighter from Philadelphia, in the movie, Rocky, which was released in 1976.]
