According to a report in the Telegram & Gazette newspaper from Worcester, the identity of the two men murdered earlier in the week on Grafton Street in Worcester has been released by the police. One of the men, Marcus Thibodeau, was awaiting trial on gun charges related to the death of a former Franklin man, DeAndre Akeem Scott, in 2020, according to earlier reports.
Thibodeau was found by police with another man, now identified as his brother, James Johnson, in front of the Diamond Inn on Grafton Street in Worcester.
The Worcester Police Report states, "On December 8th 2021 at about 1:57 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to 271 Grafton St for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers observed two male shooting victims on the sidewalk. Officers rendered medical aid and the males were transported by ambulance to the hospital, where they were both pronounced deceased."
According to earlier comment from Norfolk Assistant District Attorney Greg Connor, Thibodeau had been indicted on two matters; the first being the gun case and an obstruction of justice matter.
The second matter is a possession with intent to distribute based on drugs that were seized during a search his car during this investigation. "The second matter was indicted separately because we did not have the certification of analysis back from the drug lab when the first indictments were voted," he explained.
A motion to join the two matters had been made, something his attorney, Franklin's Joseph P. Cataldo had opposed on behalf of his client. As of Saturday morning, Cataldo has not responded to a request for comment.
