Norfolk Rep. Shawn Dooley met with supporters in Franklin earlier this week to share news of his candidacy for Massachusetts Senate.  Dooley has his first major event in Franklin this coming week.

Shawn Dooley, currently a State Representative serving Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham as well as parts of Medfield, Millis, and Walpole, has announced his candidacy for State Senate to serve Franklin and the rest of the district. His official, “all invited” party will be held at the new Raillery (former location of the British Beer Company) in the Franklin Village Mall from 7 pm to 11 pm on Wednesday, March 16.

Dooley, who has been repeatedly reelected in his district, has taken a strong bipartisan approach in his time on Beacon Hill and focuses on “people before politics,” he said.

“I always look at the interests of my constituents and when someone has a problem, they know my office will work to find a solution,” Dooley said.

“I’m really looking forward to sharing a great evening with Franklin folks and meeting people I have not yet had a chance to connect with.”

According to his campaign site, dooley4senate, Dooley was first elected State Representative in a Special Election in January 2014 and four more times thereafter.

He currently serves as the ranking member on the Joint Committee on Financial Services; the Joint Committee on Public Health; the Joint Committee on Election Laws; the House Committee on Federal Stimulus and Census Oversight; and Special Joint Committee on Redistricting.
He also was appointed to the Conference Committees for Election Laws, Campaign Finance Reform, Automatic Voter Registration, and most recently on the VOTES act.

He was selected by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court to serve as the non-attorney member on the Child Support Guidelines Task Force.

Dooley still serves as an On-Call Firefighter/EMT on the Plainville Fire Department and has served as the Senior SAFE coordinator for the town.
