Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott this week joined five Justice-Involved Individuals and their families to celebrate their completion of the Nurturing Fathers Program offered at Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office. The 13-week program is designed to teach parenting and nurturing skills to men, providing participants with an understanding of the stages of child development, responsive nurturing, discipline management and pro-social behaviors.

Addressing the graduates of the program Sheriff McDermott said, “Graduating from this program is a wonderful accomplishment that represents not only a new outlook on life and family, but a commitment to growth. It represents your growth as a person and a father along with your dedication to your children and their future.”

Reflecting on the program, one graduate said, “I realize that being more nurturing to my kids will also help me grow. I think this program has really changed my life.”

The Nurturing Father’s Program is one of the over 50 educational, vocational and therapeutic programs offered at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office to Justice-Involved Individuals. These programming options are designed to provide individuals with training and skill sets which will aid in their successful re-entry.
