Stephen P. Bassignani, 73, of Hopedale passed peacefully at home on March 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. Steve was born on October 4, 1950 to Fred and Pauline (Mucciarone) Bassignani and grew up in Franklin, MA. A devoted husband and father he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith, and his beloved sons, Adam and Anthony. He also leaves his brother, Robert, and his sisters Paula Pasquantonio, Jean Bassignani and Karen Gagnon as well as many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

Known locally as “Moose,” Steve graduated from Franklin High School in 1968 and North Adams State College in 1972 with a degree in history. During the time he played on the varsity Basketball and Baseball teams. He walls played for the Walpole Legion.

Steve spent his career as a sales manager with several baking companies including Table Top, Drakes, Hostess, IBC and Bimbo Bakeries. After his retirement Steve worked as a substitute teacher at Hopedale Junior/Senior High School. He was a passionate amateur photographer and spent many, many happy hours on the fields of greater Hopedale capturing the students’ precious memories of their athletic events, school plays and academic achievements. His motto was “Life is short. Take a picture. PRINT IT!”

Steve will always be remembered for his many acts of kindness and his willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. He will be sorely missed. A public Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at the Draper Gym in Hopedale from 2:00-3:30.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water Street Milford, MA 01757 on Sunday, March 24th will be private.
