Wednesday Housefire Possibly Linked to Lightning Strike

Image

Early Wednesday evening, New England Fire News reported that  Franklin fire was battling a blaze in a single-story wood-frame home at 298 Partridge Street following a lightning strike.

A bit later, an eagle-eyed reader spotted an unmistakable Foxboro Fire department vehicle, in its white livery, parked at the Franklin Fire Station on East Central Street.

An email to deputy fire chief Joseph Barbieri about the latter also illuminated the former:

"We did have a structure fire on Partridge Street this afternoon. The regional dispatch center received a call at 5:25pm for a possible lighting strike. In addition to our units we had mutual aid with a Medway Engine, Norfolk Engine, Bellingham Engine, Wrentham Ladder, Plainville Ambulance, and a Foxboro Engine covered the station. The fire was quickly contained to the rear of the structure."
WCVB has also reported that  "the lightning strike and resulting fire caused significant damage to the rear siding" of the home.
