In the wake of a shooting at a massive Northboro party that left a 16-year-old from Bellingham dead, police on Monday reportedly stepped up patrols in and around Bellingham High School on Monday and plan to continue to be vigilant, not due to any specific threat but due to the usual "abundance of caution."

According to a Patch report,  a Bellingham teenager was shot and killed over the weekend at a house party in Northborough, and three adults have been arrested in connection to the killing.

Shooting broke out around 1 a.m. Sunday at a home along Howard Street, according to police. A party goer had contacted police just before the shooting to report someone brandishing a gun. Shooting broke out before police responded.

When Northborough and state police got to the home, they found the 16-year-old victim amid a crowd of about 300 people. The teenager was taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester, where he was pronounced dead.

A 17-year-old was also shot and wounded, and was taken to Marlborough Hospital for treatment, Worcester County DA Joseph Early Jr. said during a news conference Sunday.

The three people arrested at the party were arraigned on a variety of gun charges Monday at Westborough District Court.

The teenager killed, not yet publicly identified, lived in Bellingham but is not a student in the public schools. However, reports state that a number of Bellingham High students were among those at the party.

One report stated that the event was a 21st birthday party and the driver of the car stopped while transporting the three arrested individuals, was the subject of the party and had apparently rented the home through a third-party service.

The Boston Herald reports that the three individuals arrested were Wallisom Texeira Da Silva, 20, of Hyde Park; Arnoldo Nogueira Filho, 19, of Marlboro; and Pedro Desouza-Passos, 27, of Rockland. Again, according to the Herald, Desouza-Passos has a criminal record with multiple defaults in court. Da Silva and Filho both had ICE detainers lodged against them.
