Unions are back, and in Franklin, too.

According to a press release provided to the Observer by Sean Martin of Regan Communications, Teamsters Local 25 is planning a  rally for Latino worker allegedly assaulted by a supervisor.

According to the press release, UPS employee Carlos Pina, a shop steward for Teamsters Local 25, was assaulted by his supervisor at UPS Franklin on April 12 and suffered a sprained wrist and required medical treatment.

"Someone" then mocked Carlos Pina’s injuries by creating a mock Academy Award along with an arm in a sling and displaying it on the UPS billboard for all to see (photo above). Teamsters Local 25 is claims the company is harassing the Shop Steward.  Evening calls to UPS for comment have not been successful, so far.

According to the statement, the assault was reported to the Franklin Police Department and Local 25 is pushing for release of the incident report.
