Elizabeth "Betty" (Brockway) Nevers

Elizabeth "Betty" (Brockway) Nevers, currently of Franklin, MA, formerly of Fort Pierce, FL and Worcester, MA passed peacefully on June 2, 2024.

Betty was born in Montreal Canada on March 7, 1934, to Muriel and Philip Brockway. She grew up in Orono, ME with her (late) brother Richard Brockway and sister Pamelia (Brockway) Adams. She graduated from the University of Maine where she met her husband of 67 years, Richard Nevers. The two were married on February 16, 1957. The couple lived in Worcester, MA for more than 30 years before becoming "snow birds" splitting their time between Fort Pierce, FL and Webster, MA.

Betty is survived by her husband Richard, their three children, Danene Jaffe, and her husband Paul, of Mashpee, MA and Longboat Key, FL, Margaret Billian, and her husband Keith, of Wrentham, MA and Port St. Lucie, FL and Donald Nevers, and his wife Caryn, of Laconia, NH. They have eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

While raising their family, Betty completed her Master's Degree in Library Science. She held the role of Librarian at David Prouty High School, in Spencer, MA, for 23 years. Prior to that, she was the Bookmobile Librarian in Beverly, MA and Natick, MA.

In college Betty was a member of Phi Mu sorority and Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. Betty was an active member, of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). She was a past President of PEO Chapter N Worcester, MA. She was also a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Worcester, MA and then First United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce, FL. Betty was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, loved to swim and spend time with family and friends. She will be remembered as a quiet, yet kind and compassionate friend and family member.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation for the care, that the staff at Benchmark Senior Living at Forge Hill, in Franklin, MA, provided to Betty during her residence there.

The family will be holding a private celebration of Betty's life.
