Kymberlee O’Brien is a jazz vocalist and percussionist who hails originally from California, where she performed in world-class jazz clubs along the Pacific Coast Highway, including in La Jolla, Santa Barbara, and San Francisco. She is now based in Franklin, and performs around the region, often with her “KO Trio” as well as within town at venues such as 3, the Farmers Market, and La Cantina. “ I do a lot of covers of Diana Krall, Norah Jones, and lots of standards,” she explains.
O’Brien recently got some positive news. “I've been invited to perform at a ‘Grammy awards for you consideration’ party, O’Brien explained. “I'm very appreciative and I'm just happy to be invited. It's a free music party at club Askew in Providence on October 24th," she explained.
O’Brien said she moved to Franklin about three years ago “and had no idea what an amazing community it is!”
Since moving to the area, she was picked up by a music agency/promoter and they submitted one of her original songs to the Grammys. “I was amazed that they submitted a song and apparently it's been going well,” she said. The promoter hosts a "Grammy awards for your consideration party" every year and it's known to be a huge music party celebration --and its free,” notes O’Brien.
In addition to O’Brien, performers at the event include Polly Bessette, Miss Wensday, Grayson, Marou Jo Celine, Selena Mars, Meera Raphael, and Claire Sully.
The event is on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Askew, 150 Chestnut Street, Providence, RI. Doors open at 7 pm.
