He was a 29-year board member of the Franklin Housing Authority. Monday afternoon, that long run was remembered by government officials, fellow members of the Authority, friends, and family in a ceremony at the Housing Authority Community Center, now renamed in his honor. Attendees included State Rep. Jeff Roy, Town Administrator Jamie Hellen, and Town Councilors Debbie Pellegri, Bob  Dellorco, and Brian Chandler.

Master of ceremonies, George Danello, a lifelong friend of Brunelli’s and current chair of the Authority Board, recalled Brunelli as a winner at everything, “except golf,” a comment that produced laughter from many, including his family. He noted that under Brunelli’s leadership the number of housing units available through the Authority grew from 195 to 218. “Anyone who works in this field will tell you that’s not easy to do,” he added.

Housing Authority Director Lisa Audette noted that Brunelli’s role as one of her bosses was always constructive and helpful and sometimes resulted in “belly laughs” as the two compared notes on parenting their respective trio of sons.

Dan Brunelli, who spoke on behalf of the family, noted that his father’s example of finding time to serve the community, even when he was busy with his career, resonated for him and his siblings and is now reflected in their own life as they work to provide a similar model for their own children.

The event was followed by a reception catered by the Rome restaurant and Beth Colace.
