Perhaps you've heard the rumors or seen a Facebook or Instagram posting about the recently opened Mystery Box Hunter in Franklin?
In essence, it's all true. The place is packed with every kind of consumer product in a riotous but somewhat disorganized profusion. But there is no doubt the prices are unambiguously rock bottom.
Located in unit #100 (the building to the right and then furthest from the street) at 157 Grove Street, manager Hang Zheng explained that the owner, a New Jersey resident previously active in an e-commerce business, saw an opportunity to create something new in the 'brick & mortar' sector and found a reasonably priced building in suburban Boston in which to house it.
According to Zheng, the company purchases most of its goods from the returns and overstocks of companies like Home Depot and Amazon and then sort them into rough categories and applies markdowns relative to the retail price of 30-70 percent. And this isn't a quick-buck business. Zheng said they have signed a five-year lease with the building owner.
