MEDWAY: Dorothy (Leavitt) Schavrien

Dorothy (Leavitt) Schavrien of Medway, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 88 years of age. Daughter of the late Jennie (Cohen) and Edward Leavitt. Loving wife of the late William M. Schavrien. Beloved mother of the Late Michael Schavrien and his surviving wife Christine, Stephen Schavrien and his wife Alice, Ronald Schavrien and his wife Karen, and Diane Anderson and her husband Eric. Cherished grandmother of Katie Cox, Alex Schavrien and wife Adrienne, Megan and husband Patrick Hohman, Josh Schavrien, Jessica Schavrien and Jordan Anderson. Great-grandmother of Daniel, Blake, Dylan, Jane and Sophia. Sister to Robert Leavitt and his wife Rosalie.

Dorothy was born in Boston on September 1, 1937. Married to her loving husband for more than 61 years before his passing on April 8, 2015. She graduated Summa cum laude from Framingham State University in 1980 with a Bachelors Degree with a major in art and a minor in elementary education. She worked as an Art teacher. She also enjoyed creating multi disciplines of art and having them displayed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 1 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.

Shiva will be held following the burial at the home of Diane and Eric Anderson.
