Yet Another Candidate Eyes Norfolk DA Job

There's another face in the race for Norfolk County district attorney: Democrat Greg Connor,(pictured above), an assistant district attorney and chief trial counsel for the Norfolk DA's office. He's been with the office for 25 years, during which he has worked as district court chief, motor vehicle homicide chief and white collar crime chief. Connor has undergraduate and law degrees from Boston College. The chair of his campaign, attorney Jay Davis, noted Connor's work on the murder trial of Brian Walshe and the case against the man charged with killing Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna.

Connor joins former federal prosecutor Adam Deitch; defense attorney Jim Barakat; former prosecutor and Cohasset School Committee Vice Chair Craig MacLellan; and attorney and former prosecutor Djuna Perkins in the race for the seat that will be vacated by DA Michael Morrissey, who announced in January he won't seek reelection.

Perkins and Deitch were quick to comment on the "up-through-the-ranks" DA candidate.

Perkins issued the following statement: "I welcome Greg to the campaign and look forward to hearing how he, as Chief Trial Counsel for DA Michael Morrissey, plans to bring meaningful reform to the office he helped run. What the Norfolk County DA's office needs is systemic reform -- not more of the same."

Deitch chimed in as well: "While I respect anyone who decides to run for office in today's political environment, Norfolk County deserves real change in the DA's Office, not a promotion for Michael Morrissey's right-hand man."
