Yan Liu, 82, of Franklin, passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Shaanxi, China, on May 5, 1943, and lived a life full of love, strength, and passion. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first and gave endlessly to those she loved. She was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her life.

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family, who will remember her for her generosity and the love she brought into their lives. She had a special way of making those around her feel cared for and deeply loved.

She was energetic and full of life, always social and quick to strike up conversations with everyone around her. She was highly talented and self-taught in many areas, including multiple languages and music. She had a deep passion for exercise and sports, participating in gymnastics in college and later running marathons, earning awards and recognition along the way. She also found joy in gardening, flowers, knitting, traveling—especially to places by the ocean—and spending time with her family.

Yan Liu will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

A private memorial service will be held with family.

Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
