Knights of Columbus Call Saturday Red Cross Blood Drive a Success

The Franklin Knights of Columbus and the American Red Cross held multiple blood drives  over the past year, according to organizers, gathering in excess of 120 pints of blood. On Saturday, they did it again, filling the parish hall in the basement of Saint Mary’s church with activity.

As of Friday, all of the more than 40 appointment slots were filled and some walk ins were also anticipated, which was expected to translated into an equal number of pints, needed badly as the end of lockdowns has spurred more activity, including resumption of elective medical procedures.

The Knights of Columbus has had an active chapter in Franklin for more than a century. According to the organization’s web site, “each year our Knights of Columbus Council implements a variety of programs to support the needs of our parish and greater Franklin community. These programs are intended to put in practice and live our guiding organizational princples of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism."
