Charter School Goes Big with World Language Week

Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School(BFCCPS)has announced World Language Week at the  school, April 11-14! During the week the school will be sharing French and Latin languages and culture with different activities each day.

According to the School's website:

Each day there will be a Foreign Language Question of the Day, there will be a different question for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. They can put their answers on a piece of paper and all answers should be collected and placed in the labeled bins in the office by 2:00. Winners will be announced at the end of the day at dismissal.

Students in Grades 7 & 8 will visit lower grade classes throughout the week. They will either go outside or split between the two classrooms reading picture books in French and playing French games together.

Throughout the week, teachers may bring students to view Latin Derivative posters and French country and culture posters displayed in the upstairs hall.

In addition, yesterday, Monday, April 11 French Canadian Storyteller and Folksinger Josée Vachon was scheduled to perform intwo different assemblies for grades (4-8):1:00-1:45 Grades 4-52:00-2:45 Grades 6-8

Wednesday, April 13 "Wear Red, White, and Blue! "and French Themed LunchStudents are invited to a pack “French inspired lunch” from home. Some suggestions for a French themed lunch include:

  • sliced ham and cheese on a baguette or croissant
  • baguette or croissant with cheese, butter, or jam
  • pain au chocolat
  • quiche
  • crepes filled with strawberries /nutella/ bananas
  • fresh fruit such as grapes, strawberries, pears, sliced apples
  • desserts such as macaron cookies, madeleines, eclairs

Please note that some lunch suggestions may include allergens and parents should review all items that their students are consuming. A reminder that any items containing nuts can only be eaten during lunch in the commons and not in classroom for snack time (or Kindergarten lunch) as all BFCCPS classrooms are nut free. 10:50-11:40 French can-can dance performed by some 8th grade students during grades 7/8 and 5/ 6 lunch period.
