Full-Time Custodian (2nd Shift) in School Setting

Job Overview:

Tri-County is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Full-Time Custodian for the 2nd shift. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and have experience in custodial services, preferably in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other assigned areas.
  • Sanitize and disinfect high-touch surfaces and objects to ensure a hygienic environment.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in accordance with school policies and environmental regulations.
  • Restock supplies in restrooms, classrooms, and other areas as needed.
  • Set up and tear down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and reporting maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other custodial staff and school personnel to address specific cleaning needs and requests.
  • Respond promptly to emergency cleaning situations.
  • Secure the school building by locking doors and windows, and activating/deactivating alarm systems as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior custodial or janitorial experience, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and other machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards.
  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong attendance record.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.

Work Schedule:

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Occasional weekends or holidays may be required depending on school events or emergencies.
