Alumni Successor Seeks Liquor License Tonight

An institution in Franklin for many years, the Alumni restaurant at 391 East Central closed during the pandemic – leaving its patrons, including people in the adjacent Municipal Building, high and dry.

But Wednesday’s Town Council meeting features a crucial vote on transferring the Alumni Liquor license, technically the M and C Restaurant Group, Inc. to ACT Hospitality, Inc d/b/a Box Seats The public hearing will be held as part of the Franklin Town Council meeting since liquor licenses are controlled by vote of the council.

ACT – the initials for principal Arthur Charles Tgibedes -- did not respond to phone and email inquiries as of press time, but if the flagship operation, Box Seats, a restaurant/sports bar at Tower Square on Route 1 in North Attleboro, is any indication, Franklin may soon get a sports bar with a broad menu – even including gluten-free pizza.

According to his Linkedin Post Tgibedes attended Johnson & Wales University, was a concession manager for New England Patriots, and served in several management positions at food establishments before taking on Box Seats in 2018.
